Hello

Hello! I am a sophomore at Ballantyne Ridge High School. I have been doing FIRST for the past 6 years, and I love every second of it!

My Story

At first, I hated robotics. I hated the thought of coding, building, or even trying to understand what a robot was. It was all confusing and so, very boring. I absolutely hated it. But then I was introduced to FLL. FLL, also known as First Lego League, was probably one of the best things that has ever happened to me.

At first, I didn’t even want to know what it was or how it worked. But after joining an FLL team when I was in 4th grade, I was introduced into the world of robotics and STEM. It was amazing, and it was exactly the opposite of what I imagined. Instead of it being a nightmare, I learned so much, and at the same time, I had so much fun. I never thought I could actually enjoy coding. But I loved the reward of finally getting the robot to work after so much hard work. The feeling of watching the robot do what you wanted to do is a feeling I will never forget. And I won’t have to, because after 3 years of FLL awesomeness, I moved onto FTC.

FTC is the version of FLL for middle and high schoolers, and it allows you to work with real robots. It is a completely new and interesting experience, filled with even more STEM activities and fun. I am currently part of the FTC team Cybotz, and I am learning something new every single day. From developing my programming skills to teaching other kids about STEM, I can’t wait to dive into this new experience.  The ability to learn something and have fun at the same time is an opportunity that I will never forget, and I am so happy to be part of this team. Joining this team was the best decision ever, and I hope to learn more everyday beside my friends.
